Rerouted

Natalie Whitmore's snapshot of a plastic skeleton on a riding mower was meant for the group chat. Then the lawn behind it was on the news — and her buried photo became the only picture of something that mattered.

A plastic skeleton on a riding mower was the funniest thing Natalie Whitmore had seen all week. She took the picture for the group chat — then forgot about it.

By morning, the lawn behind it was on the news. And the joke photo — timestamped, unnoticed, already buried under pizza plans — was suddenly the only picture of something that mattered.

The photograph changes the timeline. Then it changes the case.

Rerouted is a short prequel novella in the Brookvale Crime Series, set before I'll Call You After.
